Our Passion & Direction - Mary Breckinridge's Wendover

Mary Breckinridge came to Leslie County to change lives and help those in need. She accomplished so much in the 40+ years she spent at Wendover with her work in family healthcare. Her legacy looms large in every inch of Wendover, the home place she built-in 1925.

Mary Breckinridge’s Wendover came under local management in the summer of 2021. A board of local leaders who love and appreciate the work of Mrs. Breckinridge was immediately formed to help guide the future of this incredible landmark. Through diligent fundraising and grant writing, The Wendover Preservation Council were able to have Mary Breckinridge’s Wendover back to an operational facility in a matter of weeks.
